What to Expect:

Pet Lifestyle Session

What can I expect at my session: In one word: Fun! My goal is to capture relaxed and candid images of your fluffy friend, so my sessions are casual and customized to your pet’s personality.

When I first arrive:  When I arrive, I will chat with everyone, play with your pet until everyone is comfortable and relaxed. With most animals, getting completely comfortable with me is pretty quick. Others could take a bit of time, but I’ve developed more than a few tricks to bring even the shyest bub out of his shell pretty quickly!

Location: I am an on-location, natural-light photographer, so I can come to you or we meet at a pre-arranged location. A spot that is meaningful to you also creates wonderful photographic memories.

Cats are photographed in your home or yard.

Leash: A lot of the dogs you see in my portfolio were not actually off-leash. The leashes were removed in editing.

So Much Nervous Energy: I not only take photos of dogs, I know dogs, and I’ve learnt a few tricks here and there. I’ve previously worked in an animal sanctuary and rehab center. I’ve worked with fear-biters and shy animals, on and off-camera. It may take some extra patience and a little more time, but we’ll get there.

Puppies: New puppies always fit into the schedule – they grow and change every day!

Seniors: Seniors and cases of failing health always fit into the schedule. We never have enough time with our furry loved ones. I want to make sure you have photos of your pup that capture bub’s personality and your love.

Will I/we be in the photos: I always love capturing the family and your love for one another. Pet sessions focus on bubs and I love including their people in some way. If you are looking to include a single, more formal family photo in your session, be sure to let me know in advance.

ClothesFor families, think of coordinating or complementary colors (e.g. jewel tones, varying shades of the same color, etc.) rather than matching. Make sure everyone dresses in the same level too – either casual or dressy. And, that your outfits match the location and season of your session. You want to make sure you all have the same ‘feel’ with your outfits. Logos, characters, slogans, pictures, etc. on clothing should be avoided because they distract from your family in the photos. Clothes should also be comfortable and easy to move around in so that your lifestyle images will look natural and reflect your true personalities. And, don’t forget about your fingers and toes! Your hands will probably be making an appearance.

Seasons: I shoot all year round! Spring, summer, fall and winter each provide beautiful backgrounds.

Rain/Snow: For outdoor sessions, I will keep in touch with you leading up to our session day. If it looks like bad weather, we will reschedule to the next available date that is convenient.

After the Session: Your images will be ready for viewing two to three weeks after our session. I will send you a link to an online gallery of all your images. You can select the images you want to be included in your package or have the option to purchase additional images. Once you’ve selected your final images, I will do all the finishing touches on your images to make them perfect (e.g. remove the leash, or distractions in the background, etc.).

When your images are ready, I will send you a private link for you to download your images.

Why should I choose custom photography? Pets are cherished family members and sadly, they are with us for a much shorter time than we would like. Custom photography provides a personalized experience and gives you keepsakes of special moments that will last a lifetime.
